Key Stops

  1. Teele Wali Masjid – Start at the iconic Teele Wali Masjid with its majestic domes and hear about its historical and religious significance in Lucknow’s past.
  2. Imambara – Explore the grandeur of this iconic Imambara with a detailed tour of its vast complex. You’ll get the chance to wander through the famous Bhool Bhulaiya (maze) while learning about the architectural ingenuity of this structure, and marvel at the intricate design that defines Lucknow’s unique style. We will spend approximately an hour here, be careful to stick with your group or you actually might get lost in this maze.
  3. Rumi Gate – Make a stop at the Rumi Gate, a grand Mughal-inspired gateway, and enjoy a refreshing break with chai and bun makkhan. As you relax, learn about the role this architectural marvel has played in the city’s history, and its importance as a symbol of Husainabad’s past.
  4. Sheesh Mahal – Next, visit Sheesh Mahal, known for its mirrored interiors. Take in the intricate craftsmanship and hear stories about how this palace was used during the Nawabi era, showcasing the grandeur of the time.
  5. Art Museum – At the Husainabad Art Museum, immerse yourself in the rich history of the Nawabs of Lucknow. Admire the artifacts, portraits, and relics that bring the stories of the Nawabi period to life. Step out to the balcony for a panoramic view of the Clock Tower, the mysterious Satkhanda, and the historic Public Bath.
  6. Chota Imambara – Marvel at the beauty of Chota Imambara, known for its lavish chandeliers, elaborate carvings, and impressive Indo-Islamic architecture. Learn about its significance as a royal mausoleum and the cultural importance it holds in Lucknow.
  7. Jama Masjid – View the impressive exterior of the Jama Masjid, an architectural gem of Husainabad. While there is no entry inside, your guide will share fascinating insights into its design and importance in the city’s religious and cultural landscape.
  8. End at the Main Road – include the tour by returning to the main road, where your guide will wrap up with final stories and reflections on Husainabad’s historical and cultural legacy.

What to Bring

  • Dress comfortably for the weather and wear suitable clothing for walking and local travel.
  • Suggested: Sunglasses, sunscreen, and a hat. (Also an umbrella if it's going to rain)

Important Notes:

  • Entry tickets for some stops are required: 50 INR for Indians and 500 INR for non-Indians; this price is for a full ticket which cover the Imambara, Chota Imambara and the Art museum. Guests pay for their own tickets - it is recommended to carry cash to buy these tickets, and your guide will buy it for you.
  • The walk is moderate in terms of difficulty and requires comfortable shoes for exploring the narrow lanes and historical sites.
